Residency Update

It's been a busy start to our AGOR Abertawe residency in Germany.

Having a day to explore the Martin-Gropius-Bau Museum in Berlin, and to see the work of American artist, Nancy Holt was a highlight.

Cycling around Dresden and visiting Grafikwerkstatt, Dresden's printmaking workshop, made the trip even more special. I'm hoping, through Swansea Print Workshop, we can develop stronger links with this wonderful place.

The latter part of our residency at the Atelierhof-Werenzhain has been a peaceful time for contemplation. Its large barns, stables and internal courtyard has provided us with a creative space to play, explore and share.

The Atelierhof-Werenzhain was first mentioned in the 14th century, and is located on the village square of Werenzhain, on the edge of the Lusatian Heath Landscape Nature Park in the Elbe-Elster district in Lower Lusatia. After an eventful history, in 1996 the listed former fiefdom became a home for artists and creative people.

The surrounding landscape, with its wide horizons and beautiful woodlands has provided the perfect backdrop. We've also enjoyed early morning swims in the local freshwater lakes.
